Logistics market data from Central Dispatch showed that average list prices per mile continued to decline year–over–year for the month of November, the fourth sequential decline in a row. The average listed price per mile was $1.03, a decline of 4.6% from the prior year. Average list price per mile was down against October 2024 decreasing by 1.9% from $1.05 in the prior month. Last year we also experienced lower prices in the month of November relative to October, and we are seeing a similar trend this year. The price of Diesel has fallen to $3.54 per gallon over the last year, a decline of 16.0%.

In November 2024, the average mileage for a move was 890 miles which was up 11.8% against the same month last year. If we measure against last month, average mileage for a vehicle transported was lower by 3.2%.
Looking a bit deeper…
Looking at the underlying factors, there was a small change in the mix of trailer types with slightly higher Open trailers offset by a decline in Enclosed against last month. Additionally, trends for mileage were mixed as we observed higher average miles for Enclosed but lower mileage trends for Open trailers declining 4% over the last month. Analyzing moves by the size of vehicle transported, the data indicate lower prices per mile for the movement across most vehicle sizes, except small-size vehicles were flat and extra-large units rose 7% over the last month. Average price per mile was down 1% for Large and Medium units for the month.
